Our Mission and Impact

Disability Response Limited is committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities, the impoverished, the elderly, and survivors of domestic violence in Burundi. We aim to create an inclusive society through healthcare, education, housing, and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

Through our efforts, we’ve provided support and advocacy to marginalised communities, enabling them to access essential resources, rights, and opportunities for a brighter future.

Objectives

We focus on empowering marginalised groups by addressing their most critical needs, including access to healthcare, education, housing, and economic opportunities. These objectives are rooted in compassion, inclusion, and sustainable growth.

Disability Rights Advocacy Program

We are dedicated to promoting the rights of people with disabilities, focusing on their right to essential resources like food, clothing, and assistive devices. Through our advocacy campaigns, we raise awareness about the challenges people with disabilities face and work to ensure their voices are heard. By championing these rights, we aim to combat discrimination and create a more inclusive society where people with disabilities can live with dignity and independence.

Our farming and livelihood program empowers people with disabilities by providing them with the tools and knowledge to establish sustainable farming cooperatives. Through this initiative, we help individuals develop skills that can lead to economic independence, improving their quality of life and reducing poverty. We also offer training on sustainable agricultural practices, enabling people with disabilities to become self-reliant and contribute to their local economies.

Modern Houses

Housing Assistance Program

Safe and accessible housing is a basic need, especially for the elderly and people with disabilities. Our housing assistance program focuses on building homes that are both safe and accessible, ensuring that people with disabilities and the elderly can live with dignity and independence. By creating barrier-free living spaces, we aim to improve the quality of life for these individuals, providing them with the stability they need to thrive.

Counsel & Advice

Counselling and Peer Support Program

Emotional and psychological support is a critical part of healing and resilience. Our counselling and peer support program offers individualised counselling, coaching, and mentoring sessions to people with disabilities and survivors of domestic violence. In addition, we organise support group activities where individuals can share their experiences, gain insights, and find strength in each other. This program helps participants build resilience, foster emotional well-being, and develop the skills to overcome challenges.

Volunteers

Volunteer Recruitment and Training Program

Our volunteer program plays a vital role in delivering services to our beneficiaries. We recruit and train community volunteers who provide essential support in areas such as counseling, physiotherapy, and psychosocial assistance. By training local volunteers, we not only ensure that our services are sustainable but also empower members of the community to become advocates for disability rights and create a supportive environment for those in need.

Fundraising and Donation Program

To continue our mission, we rely on the generosity of donors and fundraising activities. Our fundraising program is designed to engage individuals, businesses, and organisations in supporting our initiatives. Through donations and fundraising campaigns, we are able to provide ongoing assistance to impoverished individuals, people with disabilities, the elderly, and survivors of domestic violence. Every donation helps us make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
